Wet Room Installation Reading

Level-access, fully tanked wet rooms built to make a small ensuite feel enormous and a family bathroom feel like a private spa — waterproofed the correct way, from bonded membrane up to finished tile.

The most flexible bathroom you can build

Level-access, fully waterproofed, quietly luxurious.

A properly designed wet room feels like the calmest room in the house — a single flowing space with a rainfall shower, a linear drain and no threshold to step over. Done well, it makes a small ensuite feel much larger and turns a family bathroom into something close to a hotel spa. Done badly, it leaks. As wet room installers in Reading with more than ten years of experience, we build them the correct way: bonded tanking membrane first, finished tile last.

  • Full bonded waterproof tanking to walls and floor
  • Correct floor gradients falling to a linear or point drain
  • Level-access design — no threshold to step over
  • Suits small ensuites, cloakrooms and full family bathrooms
  • Accessible by design, without looking clinical
  • Slip-resistant tiling, glass screens and durable brassware

04

05

Tanking & waterproofing

06

Drainage & ventilation

Correctly sized linear or point drains, falls built into the substrate, and ducted extraction sized to the room.

How a wet room is actually built

The finished tiling is the part you see; the waterproofing is the part that decides whether it lasts. We start by preparing the substrate and forming the fall — a gradient built into the floor build-up itself, never faked with thicker adhesive under the tiles — running to either a linear channel drain along one wall or a centred point drain sized to the shower's flow rate.

Walls and floor are then fully tanked with a bonded membrane system, with reinforcing tape at every internal corner, upstands carried well above splash height and collars sealed around each pipe penetration. Only once that envelope is complete does tiling begin. Slip resistance is specified properly for the floor, glass screens are fixed into solid backing, and extraction is sized so the room actually clears.

Underfloor heating pairs particularly well with a wet room — it dries the floor quickly between uses and takes the chill off tiled stone. Tiling detail matters a lot in a room this wet, and our approach is set out in more depth on the bathroom tiling page. Where the brief is about future-proofing rather than aesthetics, our accessible bathrooms service covers the same construction with comfort-height fixtures and discreet supports built in.

The process

From first call to final walk-through.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We visit your home in Reading, get a real feel for how you use the room, take precise measurements and talk through what's working and what isn't.

  2. 02

    Design

You receive a considered design with layout options, tile and sanitaryware suggestions and, where useful, a 3D render so you can picture the finished bathroom.

  3. 03

    Quotation

A fully itemised written quote covering labour, materials, timings and any preparation work — clear, transparent and fixed before we start.

  4. 04

    Installation

Your dedicated team fit the bathroom with dust sheets, daily clean-downs and clear communication throughout — usually two to three weeks on site.

  5. 05

    Final inspection

A detailed walk-through, snagging, aftercare guidance and a written workmanship guarantee — plus we're a phone call away for anything afterwards.

We're really pleased with the finished bathroom. Everything was organised well from the first visit, the dates didn't slip once and the standard of the tiling and finishing is excellent. It also helped that they'd clearly done this hundreds of times before — nothing seemed to faze them.

Our bathroom was very cramped and we honestly weren't sure what layout would work. The suggestions we got made a huge difference — we've ended up with a proper walk-in shower and twin basins, and the room feels twice the size. Tidy, polite and finished on time.

We were nervous about putting a wet room on the first floor, but the tanking and drainage were explained to us in plain English before anything started. Completely watertight, beautifully tiled and worth every penny.

Quote was itemised properly and the final invoice matched it exactly. Finished a day early with only two snags, both sorted the same week.

Genuinely helpful advice about where the money was worth spending and where it wasn't, which we appreciated. The floor tiling is dead level, the underfloor heating is a revelation and the kids love the new bath. Booking them again for the ensuite next year.

We wanted a bathroom that would still work for us in ten years without looking clinical. They designed a level-access shower with discreet supports built in, and it's now the calmest room in the house. Clear communication throughout and very respectful of our home.
